1972------1972------1972

1972 was the first year I remember the left front wheel started coming off the ground when they had their foot on the gas in the turns.  Very cool.  These days it is common but back then it was new and exciting to see the power of the engine lifting the wheel off the ground.  I don't know why this change occured.  I remember my dad saying it was because of adding power steering when I asked him how come it was doing that.  There must have been some sort of chassis or axle change or something that allowed the left front to start lifting besides just adding power steering.

The car up high is bicycling up on two wheels but my dad's car, #25 sedan, was hard on the gas and pulling the left front in turn 3 and 4.  Very cool.

Uh-oh.  Looks like an old fashioned pile up!
